In today’s VLOG, we arrived in Kampot, a town not far from the coast of Cambodia famous for its mountain Bokor and its cider and pepper. We ate so amazing food here but the best thing we did was hire bikes and scoot all the way to the top of Bokor Mountain! It was such an amazing journey, even though we had an 8 mile drive along the busy highway, as soon as we hit the base of the mountain, the roads up were smooth and gentle and the beds and turns were easy do able. Honestly, one of the most amazing experiences i’ve had whilst in South East Asia, I would recommend that anyone does it as the views are incredible and breathtaking and it’s cheap!! We paid dollars a day for the bikes and that was all it cost, no entry fee or parking fee. The only extra I had to pay was for the wing mirror that I accidentally broke when my bike fell over, oops haha!
The next day in Kampot we drove our bikes again to the Pepper Plantation in Kampot, the roads were a lot less smooth this time around. Once we got to the plantation we were taken to a lovely little shop/restaurant where we got some refreshing lime sodas, whilst we looked out at the beautiful views. When the tour began, which once again was free by the way, we had a really friendly and funny guy sit for 20 minutes and tell us the history of pepper and we even got chance to try some of the famous pepper. Then we were given a guided tour of the plantation where we saw where and how the pepper grows and saw lots of different fruit growing too, we also met the women who hand pick the pepper everyday. Such a cool experience!
I loved Kampot so much, its a vibrant town with lots of cool bars and restaurants, a beautiful setting on the river and biking about was amazing.
Tune in next time for our trip from Cambodia to Vietnam and the crazy Ho Chi Minh!
