First time in South America!
I was thrilled to finally be able to cross Machu Picchu off my bucket list. And there are many more to this short trip to South America. It was almost like a pilgrimage, to see the world, do things that are dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. Afterall, to me, that’s the purpose of life.
We stayed in Lima for almost 3 days. It was nice to take a stroll in Barranco district to savor the street arts. And never forget to bask in the sunset in Miraflores and enjoy the view of the pacific ocean.
Then we flew to Cusco, a beautiful city built upon a valley. We stayed there for 3 days and served as a base camp to travel place around like Machu Picchu and Salinaras de Maras. Got up at 3:40 a.m. to catch the train into Machu Picchu and it was totally worth it. The view was simply breath-taking. Cusco city itself is a pretty good destination to travel. We went up to Sacsayhuamán for a horse back riding and it was fun and advanturous. The Salinaras (salt mine) was also very impressive. Aside from the jaw-dropping sceneries, the water is saltier than ocean.
